Lefant M3 Max: Specs, Price, Pros & Cons

Lefant put the money in the M3 Max into its dock. The base empties the robot into a long-interval bag, rinses the spinning pads in warm water, looks after its own clean and dirty water, and measures detergent in without being asked. That list of chores usually comes with a much higher price, and it is the reason to shortlist this robot at all.

The robot under that dock is sensibly specified. Suction is 20,000 Pa, slightly above most rivals, a HEPA filter is fitted, and the rated runtime is generous. It keeps three floor maps, so a house with an upstairs and a basement can be cleaned level by level, with no-go zones, carpet detection and mapping through the app. Navigation relies on distance sensors, with no camera to recognize objects, so a floor strewn with cables and toys will test it.

What it gives up is scale and heat. The rated cleaning area suits a mid-sized home more than a large one, the mop wash runs cooler than on flagship docks, and the pads are dried with unheated air. The cleaning-mode list is also shorter than on pricier robots, so fine control over how each room is cleaned is limited. Carpet gets a competent pass and no more, and deep pile is outside its range.

It fits a mid-sized home that is mostly hard floor with area rugs, where the owner wants self-emptying and mop washing without paying for a flagship, and has an airy spot for the dock. A hallway alcove near an open window suits it. A dock squeezed into a humid utility cupboard is the wrong home for it.

How this VS Score was computed

Score 59: each known spec is measured against the median of all robot vacuums (58 products), then weighted; 50 means level with that median. In classes of six or more, a value beyond the class’s 10th–90th percentile range counts as that limit, so one extreme product cannot set the scale. 39% of the scoreable weight could be used; unknown values, features not applicable to this class and proxies (battery capacity where a rated life exists) add or remove nothing.

Editor’s note

The M3 Max costs about half what this feature list normally starts at. The dock self-empties into a 3.2 liter bag that Lefant rates for eight weeks, washes the spinning mop pads with heated water, refills and drains its own water tank, and doses its own detergent. Automatic detergent dispensing in particular is something usually reserved for flagships.

The catch is one word in the specification, and it matters more than it looks: the mops are dried with unheated air. Lefant describes it three different ways across its materials (cool drying, fast air-dry, fresh air), and none of them is warm. Damp pads sitting in a plastic dock is exactly how a robot vacuum starts to smell, and rivals at this price increasingly use heated drying. If your dock will live somewhere humid or poorly ventilated, weigh that seriously.

The rest is sensible and unexciting. It suits hard-floor-dominant homes with area rugs. The 9 mm mop lift and a mid-tier brush are not deep-carpet tools, so wall-to-wall plush carpet is the wrong environment. Navigation uses distance sensors rather than a camera with object recognition, so a cluttered floor of cables and toys will defeat it more often than a Roborock or an Ecovacs would be.

Lefant publishes no separate list price, so a sale label on this robot has no higher figure behind it.

This is budget money for a flagship-shaped feature list, with the compromises hidden in the details. If your floors are mostly hard and your dock lives somewhere airy, it is a lot of automation for the price.

The bottom line

The Lefant M3 Max earns a VS Score of 59 on the 39% of specifications we could compare like for like — an indication, not a ranking.

Who it’s for
Mid-size, hard-floor-dominant homes with area rugs, and pet owners who want the hands-off dock experience (self-empty plus mop washing and auto-detergent) without paying flagship prices.
Who should look elsewhere
Homes with wall-to-wall or plush carpet, where the low mop lift and a mid-tier brush are not enough. Also wrong in humid rooms or an unventilated cupboard, because the mops are dried with unheated air.
The trade-off that matters
Flagship dock automation at half the price, paid for with cool-air mop drying and simpler obstacle avoidance. Both are fine in the right house and irritating in the wrong one.
The main alternative
Dreame D20 Air Plus: the closest direct rival with comparable suction and self-emptying, worth comparing if heated mop drying matters to you.
