iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max: Specs, Features, Pros & Cons

One specification separates iRobot's all-in-one from nearly every rival: the mop is a static pad. Most competitors now use spinning pads or a powered roller that apply their own motion to the floor.

A static pad is dragged rather than driven, so it wipes rather than scrubs — fine for dust and fresh spills, less effective on anything dried on. That is the honest limitation, because the rest of the mopping system is sophisticated: the dock refills and washes the pad, and dirt detection sends the machine back over a patch.

Editor’s note

The Combo 10 Max is iRobot's answer to the all-in-one dock, and one specification separates it from nearly every rival: the mop is a static pad.

Most competitors now use spinning pads or a roller, which apply their own motion to the floor. A static pad is dragged by the robot, so it wipes rather than scrubs — fine for dust and fresh spills, less effective on anything dried on. It is the honest limitation to understand, because the rest of the mopping system is sophisticated: the dock refills the pad and washes it, and dirt detection sends the machine back over a patch that comes up dirty.

Where it does lead is the body. At 86.4 mm it is one of the lower machines here, so it gets under furniture that the 100 to 105 mm crowd cannot reach — and floor under a sofa is exactly the floor a person never vacuums.

Navigation is camera-based vSLAM with mapping, no-go zones and room-by-room cleaning, which is effective in daylight and weaker after dark than LiDAR. Dual rubber anti-tangle brushes handle hair, and a 4,200 mAh battery drives recharge-and-resume, with a 300 ml bin and a 170 ml tank.

iRobot publishes no suction figure, so it cannot be compared on Pa. There is no HEPA filter.

Buy it if low furniture clearance matters and mopping means maintenance rather than scrubbing. Buy a spinning or roller mop if the kitchen floor is the reason you are buying.

The bottom line

The iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max earns a VS Score of 46, a solid mid-pack result among the 57 robot vacuums we compare here. It stands out for a mop function, dirt detection & re-mop and self-empty dock. Just be aware of the missing edge-cleaning extension and a much smaller water tank before you buy. Weigh those trade-offs against what matters most to you.

The VS Score is calculated from the weighted specifications above, compared with every other robot vacuum we track — a shortlisting guide, not a substitute for your own priorities. See how we score.
