Levoit Vital Pet Pro: Specs, Price, Pros & Cons
Inside the Vital Pet Pro, the pre-filter gets cleaned by the purifier itself between the owner's occasional hand washes, a mechanism Levoit built around the fur of a dog or cat. The rest of the design follows from it, and it is the reason this model carries the word Pet in its name.
It belongs to Levoit's Vital family, where the pre-filter is a separate washable layer instead of a skin on the disposable cartridge. Behind that layer sit HEPA-grade media and activated carbon for smells. Levoit calls the filter HEPA-grade and does not claim True HEPA for it, and the main cartridge still needs changing more than once a year.
Around the filters, the purifier is standard Levoit. A sensor drives the auto mode, a sleep setting brings the fan down at night, and the VeSync app adds schedules, air-quality history and voice assistant support, all tied to a Levoit account. It weighs 5.2 kg, a middling weight, so it can move from the lounge to the bedroom when the dog does.
Its rated area sizes it for the one room the animal uses most: a living room, a kitchen with a basket in the corner, a utility room or a bedroom shared with a cat. It is not built to clean a whole floor. Levoit has also left gaps in its own paperwork, with no power figure and no maximum noise level published, so those two comparisons cannot be made on paper. A buyer without a pet gets the same basic Levoit purifier with a cleaning system that has nothing to do, and a buyer with one gets a pre-filter that never goes in the bin.

How this VS Score was computed
Score 43: each known spec is measured against the median of all air purifiers (41 products), then weighted; 50 means level with that median. In classes of six or more, a value beyond the class’s 10th–90th percentile range counts as that limit, so one extreme product cannot set the scale. 73% of the scoreable weight could be used; unknown values, features not applicable to this class and proxies (battery capacity where a rated life exists) add or remove nothing.

Editor’s note
Pet-specific appliances are usually marketing, but this one has a real mechanical answer to the problem. Hair and dander clog a purifier's pre-filter faster than anything else, and on most units (including Levoit's own Core models) that pre-filter is bonded into the disposable cartridge, so shedding effectively shortens the life of an expensive filter. The Vital Pet Pro separates them. Its pre-filter is cleaned automatically by the unit and washed by hand monthly, and never replaced. Over a couple of years with a shedding animal, that is the difference that pays for the machine.
Performance is mid-range: 148 CFM of clean air delivery across 229 square feet on the AHAM 4.8-air-changes basis. Levoit advertises 1,100 square feet, which uses the one-air-change convention and is not a number to plan around. There is a genuine air-quality sensor and Auto mode, and it is very quiet at the bottom of its range, rated at 21 dB.
What frustrates me is how little Levoit publishes. There is no maximum noise figure and no power consumption anywhere in the maker's material, so two of the things I would most want to compare against rivals do not exist on paper. Those fields are left empty here. We did not fill them in from a retailer's guess.
The rest is standard Levoit: HEPA-grade rather than certified True HEPA, a VeSync account for scheduling and air-quality history, and voice assistant support.
This makes sense in a room a dog or cat lives in, such as a lounge, a utility room or a bedroom if the animal sleeps there. Without pets you are paying for a mechanism you will never benefit from, and the standard Vital 200S covers more floor area for less money.

The bottom line
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro earns a VS Score of 43, below the median of the 41 air purifiers it is measured against (a score of 50 is level with that median).
- Who it’s for
- Households with a shedding cat or dog, in the room the animal spends its time. The self-cleaning washable pre-filter is the whole point of the model.
- Who should look elsewhere
- Pet-free homes, which pay for a mechanism they will never use, and anyone who needs published power and noise figures to compare, because Levoit supplies neither.
- The trade-off that matters
- A pre-filter you never replace, against a manufacturer that publishes unusually little (no wattage, no maximum noise), so it is hard to judge on paper.
- The main alternative
- Levoit Vital 200S-P shares the washable pre-filter design and covers more floor area, and is better value if pet hair is a factor but not the main one.
