Dreo Air Purifier 539AS: Specs, Price, Pros & Cons
The Dreo Air Purifier 539AS is the pet-focused member of Dreo's Air Purifier 5 Series, and it does something most of its rivals avoid: it publishes the honest room size next to the flattering one. Dreo's AHAM Verifide table lists 145 CFM of clean air delivery, 225 square feet at 4.8 air changes per hour, and 1,079 square feet at one air change, the headline figure that sells purifiers and which Dreo itself footnotes as such. Size this one to a bedroom or a home office and you are buying it correctly.
Air passes through a single three-layer cartridge Dreo calls the 3-in-1 HEPA Pro: a pre-filter, a HEPA layer rated at 99.97 percent of particles down to 0.3 micron, and an activated carbon layer with VOC-reactive media, with a claimed life of six to eight months. What makes this the pet model is what sits in front of that cartridge, a peel-and-apply FiberCatch sheet that catches fur and lint before it loads the filter, six of which ship in the box. Tip-over shutoff, an anti-chew cord and a Pet Lock that stops an animal changing settings round out the theme.
It is properly connected for the money: Wi-Fi, the Dreo app with thirty days of PM2.5 history and scheduling, Alexa and Google Assistant, a real particle sensor driving Auto mode, four fan speeds, a 24-hour timer and a filter reminder, in a body 390 mm tall and about 3.1 kg.
Two things to keep straight. Dreo never claims certified True HEPA, only the 99.97 percent efficiency figure. And this pet version is rated below the plain 539S it is based on, 145 CFM against 158, because the fur pre-filter costs airflow.

Editor’s note
I would buy this one specifically for a pet household, and I would put it in the room the animal actually sleeps in rather than the biggest room in the house.
The reason is the pre-filter. Fur is what kills purifier filters early: it mats across the intake face, airflow drops, and the expensive cartridge underneath gets replaced months before its media is spent. A disposable sheet you peel off and throw away every few weeks is a cheap way to protect a filter that is not cheap. Six come in the box and replacements are sold ten to a pack.
The trade-off is honest and worth saying out loud: this model moves less air than the non-pet version of the same machine. If nobody in your house sheds, buy the plain one and take the extra airflow.
What I would not do is lean on the 24 dB figure. It exists only as an unqualified attribute on Dreo's own retail listing; neither the product page nor the fifteen-page manual gives a noise table. Treat it as the quietest setting on a good day, not as a measurement.
Power draw is missing in the same way. The unit carries an ENERGY STAR mark and Dreo publishes no wattage at all, which is an odd gap on a machine meant to run continuously.
Maintenance is otherwise simple: one cartridge, six to eight months, a reminder on the display, and a fresh pre-filter sheet whenever the old one looks grey.
