The sensor, the 8,000 Hz wireless link and the optical switches are all still current-class. What has moved on since is mostly at the margins, which makes the price gap to the newer model the real question below.

The Viper V3 Pro is the generation before Razer's current competitive flagship, and it remains one of the better-balanced mice here.
At 54 g in a 127.1 mm ambidextrous shell it sits in the range most professional players have settled on — light enough to move without inertia, substantial enough not to feel skittish. The Focus Pro 35K sensor runs to 35,000 DPI with 750 IPS of tracking, polling at 8,000 Hz over the wireless link, with 100% PTFE feet and optical switches.
Eight buttons is two more than the DeathAdders here, which gives room for a couple of extra binds without turning the mouse into a control panel, and the shape is symmetrical rather than right-handed — the reason many left-handed players end up with a Viper.
Battery life is a quoted 95 hours. That is short next to the 200 hours a 1,000 Hz mouse manages, and it is the direct cost of 8 kHz polling: the radio reports eight times as often and the battery pays for it.
Against the newer V4 Pro you give up 5 g and some sensor headroom that sits beyond human movement anyway, for meaningfully less money.
Buy it if you want a proven competitive shape and 8,000 Hz wireless polling without paying current-flagship prices. Buy the V4 Pro if battery life matters — it manages 180 hours at the same polling rate.
