Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro: Specs, Price, Pros & Cons

The newest DeathAdder changes what sits inside Razer's best-known right-handed shell and leaves the outside alone. Its predecessor, the V3 Pro, already used this body, so a player moving up keeps the same hand position and gets new electronics underneath.

Those electronics are the product. The Focus Pro sensor carries some of the highest sensing figures of any mouse, and the receiver reports position eight times as often as an ordinary wireless mouse. Lift-off distance can also be adjusted, which lets a low-sensitivity player who lifts and resets the mouse constantly decide how high it can travel before tracking stops.

Everything else is kept plain on purpose. The mouse connects through its USB receiver only, charges over USB-C and stores its settings in onboard memory. There is no Bluetooth for a laptop in a bag, no lighting, no tilt wheel and no free-spinning scroll mode. The long body still makes a light mouse for its size, which is the other half of its competitive pitch.

It gives up little on paper. Rated battery life is a little shorter than on some wireless rivals, and there is only the one way to connect. The shape sets the real boundary: it is built for a right hand in palm or claw grip, and it asks the hand to adapt to it, never the other way round.

The intended owner plays shooters at low sensitivity on a high-refresh monitor and wants the sensor and the wireless link to drop off the list of things that could go wrong. A casual player gets the same shell, and the same hand position, from the older V3 Pro.

How this VS Score was computed

Score 69: each known spec is measured against the median of all mice (81 products), then weighted; 50 means level with that median. In classes of six or more, a value beyond the class’s 10th–90th percentile range counts as that limit, so one extreme product cannot set the scale. 77% of the scoreable weight could be used; unknown values, features not applicable to this class and proxies (battery capacity where a rated life exists) add or remove nothing.

Editor’s note

The DeathAdder V4 Pro is the current top of Razer's competitive line, and its numbers are near the top of the market on every sensing measure.

The Focus Pro 45K Gen-2 sensor runs to 45,000 DPI with 900 IPS of tracking speed and 85 G of acceleration tolerance, figures few mice approach. The practical significance is not the DPI, which nobody uses above a few thousand, but the tracking speed: at very low sensitivity a fast swipe can move a mouse faster than a lesser sensor can follow, and this sensor puts that ceiling out of reach.

It polls at 8,000 Hz wirelessly, which is the harder engineering problem than doing it over a cable, and does so while weighing 56.1 g, light for a mouse this large at 128 mm. Lift-off distance is adjustable, the optical switches are rated to 100 million clicks, and battery life is a quoted 150 hours.

The shape is the long-serving DeathAdder right-handed profile, suited to palm and claw grips, and there is deliberately nothing else: six buttons, no RGB, no horizontal scrolling, no free-spinning wheel.

Its predecessor, the V3 Pro, shares the identical shell and gives up the sensor and the polling rate for meaningfully less money.

Buy it if you play at a level where sensor ceilings and polling intervals are things you have reasoned about. Buy the V3 Pro if the shape is what you came for: it is the same mouse in the hand.

The bottom line

The Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro earns a VS Score of 69, above the median of the 81 mice it is measured against (a score of 50 is level with that median).

Who it’s for
A right-handed competitive player on a high-refresh monitor who wants the fastest wireless reporting Razer makes in its most familiar shape.
Who should look elsewhere
Left-handers, people who want Bluetooth for a laptop, and anyone who wants more than six buttons should look elsewhere.
The trade-off that matters
You pay for sensor headroom few players will ever reach. The shell is the same as its cheaper predecessor, so the extra money buys margins on paper and a few grams.
The main alternative
Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro: the identical shell with an older sensor and ordinary polling, for less money
