Roborock's Qrevo Edge line exists for one specific kind of home: the one where a normal robot vacuum keeps getting stuck. The Edge 3 Pro's party trick is its AdaptiLift chassis, which climbs single steps up to about 4.5cm and stacked double thresholds up to 8.8cm. If your rooms are separated by chunky saddles, or you have thick rugs the robot needs to mount rather than avoid, that alone justifies looking at this over cheaper machines. The retractable LiDAR turret is the other half of the story — with it lowered, the robot ducks under furniture down to about 8cm, which most turret-equipped robots simply cannot reach.
The rest is a competent flagship package: 36,000Pa rated suction, dual spinning mops with 14N of pressure that detach automatically before carpet runs, obstacle recognition covering a claimed 300-plus object types, and a dock that washes the pads with genuinely hot water, dispenses detergent and dries everything with warm air. The DuoDivide brush plus arc side brush setup is Roborock's anti-tangle design, and it is one of the better ones for long hair.
What gives me pause is partly the price — $1,250 street at the time of writing — and partly how new this machine is. Roborock has not yet published battery capacity, runtime, bin size or noise figures for it, and there is little independent testing to lean on. The company's track record is strong, but early adopters are taking a small leap.
This makes much more sense for a split-level home with pets, high-pile rugs and doorway thresholds than for a flat, open apartment, where a machine at half the price cleans just as well and the climbing hardware sits unused. If your floors are simple, spend less; if your robot's obituary would read 'died on a threshold', this is exactly the machine that fixes it.
