Editor’s note
The Roborock Saros 20 is a flagship in the truest sense: it throws almost every piece of Roborock's current technology at the problem and asks a high price for it. Suction climbs to a stated 36,000Pa, which is more than most homes will ever need but does help pull embedded grit out of medium-pile carpet.
Two things set it apart from the crowd. First, it is genuinely slim at about 8cm tall, because Roborock replaced the traditional spinning LiDAR turret with its solid-state StarSight navigation. That lets the robot slide under kickboards and low sofas that stop taller machines. Second, the AdaptiLift chassis lets it clear unusually tall thresholds, so split-level and multi-room homes with raised doorway trims are far less likely to trap it.
Mopping uses the VibraRise system with a sonic-vibrating pad, and the RockDock handles the chores you do not want to: it washes the pad in hot water, dispenses detergent, refills clean water and empties the bin. Anti-tangle brushes keep pet and human hair from wrapping the roller.
The honest caveats are price and mop style. This is one of the most expensive robots you can buy, and the vibrating flat pad, while good, does not scrub quite as aggressively into edges as the newer roller-mop designs from Dreame and Ecovacs. It also carries a camera for obstacle recognition, so the usual smart-home privacy considerations apply.
Buy the Saros 20 if you want the slimmest, highest-climbing, best-navigating robot available and budget is secondary — it is ideal for cluttered, multi-level homes with low furniture. If you mostly want spotless mopping, or you simply want strong automation for less money, a roller-mop model or a step-down flagship will serve you better for the outlay.
