Editor’s note

The Blue Signature Large is Blueair betting that the reason people refuse to put a big purifier in the living room is that big purifiers are ugly. So this one is furniture: a low, fabric-wrapped cylinder in 'Nordic Fog' with a flat top that Blueair explicitly pitches as a side table, plus optional wood-leg and chrome-ring bases if you want it to lean further into the role.

Under the upholstery it is the company's most advanced filtration package. Seven stages – up from four on the Blue Pure line – with OdorFence odour treatment, a smoke CADR of 455 that edges out even the 211i Max, and a genuine 705-square-foot AHAM-basis capacity (the 3,385 sq ft headline is the usual one-air-change figure). The filter also lasts twelve months rather than the Blue Pure line's nine, which softens its $99.99 price to roughly a hundred dollars a year. Power draw tops out at 42 watts, and the noise range of 23 to 55 dB is well-mannered for the airflow.

The compromises: HEPASilent is electrostatic-plus-mechanical, not a certified HEPA class – a consistent Blueair caveat worth knowing. There is no voice-assistant support advertised, which is odd on a $449.99 flagship when the cheaper 211i Max has it. The design accessories cost real money ($79.99 to $99.99). And that side-table top invites clutter that a purifier's air path does not love.

At $449.99 list – and already seen around $375 – the practical comparison is Blueair's own 211i Max, which moves almost identical air for $100 less with voice control, in a taller, plainer body. The Signature's case is the twelve-month filter and the fact that it is the one purifier guests will not ask you to move.

How the VS Score works — and what it can’t tell you

Every measurable spec is scored against the average of all the Air Purifiers we track: matching the class average scores 50, clearly beating it climbs towards 100, and each spec counts according to an editorial weight that reflects real-world impact — a battery-capacity gap moves the score far more than a colour-options list. The quality bars on the spec cards above show where this model sits inside the full range for its class, and the overall VS Score rolls every weighted result into one number.

Unknown values are never estimated. A spec this product doesn’t report simply drops out of its scoring — it isn’t penalised with a guess — but a thinner spec sheet does mean a score built on fewer data points, which is why completeness is disclosed under About this data.

Most importantly: a spec-sheet lead is not the same as a better product. Megapixels, gigahertz and benchmark points describe capacity, not experience — image processing, software optimisation, thermals, haptics and ergonomics decide how a device actually feels, and no table captures reliability or long-term support quality. Treat the VS Score as a structured summary of what can be measured, not a substitute for your own priorities.

About this data

  • Specifications are compiled from each manufacturer’s official spec sheet, cross-checked against trusted specification databases, and normalised into one schema so identical things are compared identically.
  • Specifications last verified August 24, 2026.
  • Data completeness: 20 of the 22 specs in this category are verified (91%). Anything we could not verify is shown as Unknown — never estimated — and is excluded from the score.
  • Prices and availability come from live retailer feeds via our shopping partners and refresh throughout the day; a missing price means no partner currently lists the product, not that it is discontinued.
  • Want the full picture? Our editorial guidelines explain how we research products, weight the scores and stay independent.

The bottom line

The Blueair Blue Signature Large earns a VS Score of 63, comfortably above average among the 32 air purifiers we compare here.

Who it’s for
Living rooms where aesthetics have veto power – a purifier styled as a side table, with Blueair's best 7-stage filtration and a 12-month filter behind the fabric.
Who should look elsewhere
Value buyers: Blueair's own 211i Max delivers nearly identical airflow for $100 less and adds the voice control this flagship strangely lacks.
The trade-off that matters
You pay roughly $100 for the furniture design and the longer filter cycle, not for more clean air – a fair deal only if the looks are the point.
The main alternative
Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max is the same performance in a plainer tower; Dyson's Big+Quiet BP04 is the other design-led large-room option.

The VS Score is generated automatically from the weighted specifications above, measured against all other air purifiers in our database. Treat it as a shortlisting guide — not a substitute for your own priorities.
