Editor’s note
The Core 600S is the big one in Levoit's range, and the number that matters is 391 CFM of clean air delivery, the highest here by a distance. What makes it interesting is that it manages that on 49 watts. The Coway Airmega Mighty draws 77 watts to move less air. If a purifier is going to run continuously – and for it to do anything useful, it should – that gap turns into real money.
A word on room size, because every manufacturer in this category plays the same game. Levoit advertises up to 2,909 square feet. That figure assumes one air change per hour, which is close to meaningless for allergies or smoke. The number recorded here is 606 square feet, measured on the AHAM standard of 4.8 air changes an hour, and that is the honest working figure. Treat every headline coverage claim in this category with the same suspicion.
Two things temper my enthusiasm. Levoit no longer calls this filter True HEPA; the current wording is HEPA-grade three-in-one, which is a quiet but real softening of the claim. And the pre-filter is not separately washable, so when it clogs with dust or hair you replace the entire cartridge – $59.99 for the standard version, up to $79.99 for the smoke variant, roughly every seven months. Call it a hundred dollars a year.
The smart features want a VeSync account. Scheduling, air-quality history and filter reminders all live in the app.
I would buy this for a large open-plan living space or a big bedroom where you want it running quietly overnight; 26 dB at the bottom of its range is genuinely low. In a small bedroom it is more machine than the room needs, and the Core 300S will do that job for half the money.
