Keychron M3 Mini: Specs, Features, Pros & Cons

Keychron scaled down the shell of the M3 Mini and kept the connection list of a full-size mouse. It plugs in by cable, runs on a wireless dongle or pairs over Bluetooth, and the whole mouse is light.

The design aims at a specific hand. Its body is short and narrow, suited to a claw or fingertip grip, and it makes no attempt to fill a whole palm. The internals are full size: a current PixArt sensor with a resolution ceiling no player will reach, acceleration rated at 50 G, onboard memory and a wired mode for when the battery runs low. Lift-off distance is adjustable, which is uncommon at this size. Some features did not make the move to the small shell. The wheel has no horizontal scrolling and no free-spin mode, so long documents scroll in steps and wide spreadsheets need the keyboard to move sideways. Polling runs at the standard rate on both cable and dongle.

Endurance is the bigger compromise. A shell this small leaves room for a small cell, and the rated battery life is short, well behind Keychron's larger mice, so charging becomes part of the routine. The wired mode softens that at a desk and helps less on a train. Onboard memory means the settings survive the switch to the cable.

The buyer Keychron seems to have in mind carries a laptop and games on it, and has hands that full-size gaming mice never fit. A palm that rests on the mouse all day at one desk is better served by a larger shape. The M3 Mini gives the traveler a light, quick mouse that moves between three connections without complaint.

How this VS Score was computed

Score 55: each known spec is measured against the median of all mice (81 products), then weighted; 50 means level with that median. In classes of six or more, a value beyond the class’s 10th–90th percentile range counts as that limit, so one extreme product cannot set the scale. 66% of the scoreable weight could be used; unknown values, features not applicable to this class and proxies (battery capacity where a rated life exists) add or remove nothing.

Editor’s note

The M3 Mini is a small, light, tri-mode mouse, and the word doing the work in that description is "mini".

At 120 x 65 x 39 mm and 57.1 g it is compact and noticeably shorter than a full-size mouse, which suits smaller hands, a claw or fingertip grip, and a bag. Full-size mice are more comfortable for a long day of palm-grip use. This one is more comfortable for people whose hands the full-size ones do not fit, which is a group rarely catered for.

The internals are not scaled down. A PixArt PAW3395 sensor runs to 26,000 DPI with 650 IPS of tracking, lift-off distance is adjustable (uncommon at this size and useful if you lift and reposition often), the feet are PTFE, and the Huano mechanical switches are rated to 80 million clicks. Connection is wired, 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth, it charges over USB-C, and there is onboard memory so settings travel.

Two numbers place it below the competitive tier. Polling is 1,000 Hz wired and wireless, and battery life is a quoted 70 hours: respectable, though well short of the 120 hours its larger siblings manage, which is the usual price of a small cell.

Buy it if full-size mice are too big for your hand, or you want something light and capable that travels. Buy a larger mouse if you rest your whole palm and stay at one desk.

The bottom line

The Keychron M3 Mini earns a VS Score of 55, above the median of the 81 mice it is measured against (a score of 50 is level with that median).

Who it’s for
Owners of small hands, and claw or fingertip grippers, who want a capable mouse that also goes in a laptop bag.
Who should look elsewhere
Palm grippers at one desk all day, and anyone who does not want to charge often.
The trade-off that matters
You will charge it more often than Keychron's bigger mice because the cell is small, and that bites on the road where a cable may not be handy.
The main alternative
ATTACK SHARK X3: another small, light tri-mode mouse with a much longer rated battery life

The VS Score is calculated from the weighted specifications above, each measured against the median of comparable mice — a shortlisting guide, not a substitute for your own priorities. See how we score.
