Editor’s note
The XG27AQWMG uses a Tandem WOLED panel, and understanding that term is most of the buying decision.
Stacking two emissive layers instead of one lets the panel reach 1,500 nits — half again as bright as the QD-OLEDs around it, which top out near 1,000. On an OLED that brightness is the one thing that has historically been missing, so HDR here has force rather than just contrast. Quoted contrast is 1,500,000:1, colour coverage 99.5% DCI-P3, and response 0.03 ms.
Refresh is 280 Hz at 1440p, which is the combination competitive players actually want: high frame rates are achievable on mid-range hardware at this resolution in a way they are not at 4K. Pixel density is 110 ppi, the same as any 27-inch 1440p monitor, so this is a gaming panel rather than a text panel.
Note the connection panel before buying. There is one HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort 1.4, no USB-C, no hub and no KVM — this is a monitor to plug a desktop into, not a desk hub. The glossy coating gives the deepest-looking blacks and reflects a lit room accordingly.
Gigabyte's MO27Q28G uses the same panel and adds USB-C and a KVM, at the cost of a stand that only tilts. That is the real comparison.
Buy it for competitive gaming where brightness and motion clarity matter and a desktop is the only source. Buy the Gigabyte if a laptop shares the desk and you can live without swivel and pivot.
