Canon's pitch here is a colour laser all-in-one with a single-pass duplex document feeder and a three-year limited warranty. That last item is unusual enough to be a genuine reason to choose it: most competitors in this class ship with one year, and on a machine containing a drum, a belt and four toners, longer cover is worth real money.
The scanner is the other reason. The 50-sheet feeder captures both sides in one pass, roughly 28 images per minute simplex and 53 duplex, so double-sided originals go through once. Canon pairs it with a 5-inch customisable touchscreen, Gigabit Ethernet, a USB host port for printing from and scanning to a stick, and a 33.6 kbps fax modem.
Printing is where it gives ground. Up to 26 ppm for both black and colour is respectable but slower than Brother's 31 ppm equivalent, and print resolution is 600 x 600 dpi where the Brother is a 2400 x 600 class engine. For text and business graphics you will not care; for fine detail you might.
The specification that would irritate me daily is the multipurpose tray, which holds exactly one sheet. Envelopes, labels and letterhead all feed one at a time. If any part of your work involves a stack of envelopes, this is the wrong machine and it will not improve.
Other notes: the output tray holds 75 sheets, the starter toners are small at roughly 500 pages colour and 700 black, and peak draw is 1080 watts.
I would take this over faster rivals for an office that scans a lot, prints moderately and wants the warranty. I would not take it for envelope-heavy work at any price.
