Four filtration stages behind a flat, squared-off front make the Airmega 200M the boxy member of Coway's mid-size pair. Its round sibling, the AP-1512HH Mighty, shares the internals, so the choice between them comes down to shape and to whichever carries the lower price on the day.
The layout is conventional. A washable pre-filter catches hair and dust, a carbon deodorization filter handles smells, and a True HEPA element does the fine work. A bipolar ionizer rides along and can be switched off by anyone who would rather not run one. A dust sensor drives the auto mode and lights a colored ring on the front, so the state of the room is readable from the doorway without touching anything.
Coway pitches it at ordinary rooms. Its rated area and clean air delivery put it in the same class as the round Mighty, which suits a main bedroom, a study or a modest living room. Open-plan floors belong to the larger Airmega 400 further up the range, and nothing about this model stretches to cover one.
What it leaves out is everything connected. There is no Wi-Fi, no app and no voice control, and the controls are a row of buttons with LEDs. It also skips a dedicated sleep mode, so the display dims at night but the fan keeps to its normal steps, and at full speed the motor draws more power than most purifiers of its size. None of that changes how it cleans. It does shape who should own it: someone who wants dependable filtration, reads a color ring instead of a phone and has no plans to wire the house into a smart home.

The Airmega 200M is one of the quiet bargains in air purification, because it's essentially Coway's legendary AP-1512HH Mighty wearing a squarer jacket. Same class of performance (246 CFM smoke CADR, rated for 361 sq ft at a vigorous 4.8 air changes per hour), same auto mode driven by a real dust sensor, same switchable bipolar ionizer, often at the same discounted street prices. The Mighty has topped recommendation lists for a decade, and this is that machine.
What daily use looks like: the sensor ring glows blue, purple or red as your air changes, auto mode reacts on its own, and the Eco setting stops the fan entirely after half an hour of clean air, a small feature that meaningfully cuts power use. Maintenance is a washable pre-filter plus two replaceables on different clocks: the deodorization filter every six months, the True HEPA yearly. Cheap individually, but two SKUs to remember.
The compromises are honest ones. There's no Wi-Fi, no app, no dedicated sleep mode. The display dims, but the quietest setting is 24.4 dB rather than near-silence, and at full tilt it reaches 55 dB and pulls a surprisingly stout 82 watts. Coway's own paperwork also disagrees with itself on weight (12.3 lb on the site, 13.2 in the manual, and we stored the manual's figure).
Who it suits: bedrooms, offices and normal living rooms where someone wants proven filtration without a companion app. Who should pass: whole-open-floor households (that's the Airmega 400's job) and anyone who wants smart-home integration. Before buying, do check the price of the round AP-1512HH Mighty itself, since it has identical guts and whichever is cheaper that week is the right buy.
