The j7+ is the Roomba built around a single promise: it will not spread something unpleasant across your floor.

Its forward-facing camera identifies obstacles rather than merely detecting them, and it was the model iRobot backed with a guarantee about pet waste specifically. In a house with a dog or a toddler, that is not a gimmick — it is the failure mode that makes people stop using a robot vacuum altogether. Cables, socks and shoes are handled by the same system.

Navigation is camera-based vSLAM with full mapping, room-by-room cleaning and no-go zones. That is a generation behind the LiDAR machines here in the dark — vSLAM needs light to see, LiDAR does not — but it is what enables the obstacle recognition that is this model's whole point.

Suction is 10,000 Pa, the dock empties the bin, the brushes are anti-tangle rubber rather than bristles, and at 85 mm tall it gets under most furniture. Runtime is 120 minutes.

Two things it does not do. It does not mop — the Combo models do that and are separate products. And there is no HEPA filter listed.
