Editor’s note
The Q13 Ultra 8K is the unusual one. It takes the Alice layout — where the alphanumeric block is split and angled outward so your wrists sit straighter — and, instead of stopping at a compact size, extends it to 96% with a full numpad. Very few keyboards attempt this, and it is the reason to consider the Q13 over anything else in the range.
The appeal is specific. If you want ergonomic wrist angles but your job involves entering numbers all day, most ergonomic boards force you to choose. This one does not. The trade is desk space: at 447 mm wide and 157 mm deep it occupies more surface than a standard full-size board, and the angled centre section means it does not sit flush against a monitor stand.
Then there is the weight. 2,440 grams is extraordinary — more than a 13-inch laptop, and 700 grams heavier than the Q1. In practice that means total stability and a very low, dense typing sound, helped by the double-gasket mount and layered foam. It also means this board is permanently wherever you first put it.
Everything else matches the Ultra platform: 8,000 Hz polling over 2.4 GHz, a 4,000 mAh cell rated to 660 hours unlit, hot-swap sockets, Keychron Silk POM switches, and five macro keys down the left edge. Five macro keys plus a knob is a lot of programmable surface, and the Launcher web app handles remapping without installing anything.
Choose it if the Alice layout appeals and you genuinely need a numpad — that combination barely exists elsewhere. Do not choose it if your desk is shallow, if you have never used a split alphanumeric block before and are not prepared to relearn typing, or if you would rather spend less on the Q6 Ultra 8K for a conventional full-size layout.
