The Keychron Q6 Ultra 8K is the company's full-size flagship, and it reads like a list of things enthusiasts ask for. A CNC aluminium case, a double-gasket mount, screw-in PCB stabilisers, a polycarbonate plate, several layers of acoustic foam and double-shot PBT keycaps on Keychron's own Silk POM switches — plus a rotary knob and south-facing per-key RGB.
The headline technical feature is the wireless. Running ZMK firmware, it sustains an 8000Hz polling rate over 2.4GHz rather than only over USB, which is still rare, and Keychron quotes up to 660 hours of use on the 4000mAh battery with the backlight off. Connectivity covers USB-C, 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 5.3 across three paired devices, and it is hot-swappable, so the switches are a starting point rather than a commitment.
The drawbacks follow from the construction. It weighs 2,238g — over two kilos of metal — which makes it immovably stable on a desk and completely impractical to travel with. It is 446mm wide, so it demands real desk space alongside a mouse. At around $240 assembled it costs several times what a competent membrane or budget mechanical board does, and the configuration software is browser-based, which is convenient now and a question mark in a decade.
