ASUS ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20: Specs, Price, Pros & Cons
The Azoth Extreme Edition 20 is ASUS's twentieth-anniversary version of its most expensive keyboard, and the anniversary is the whole difference. Underneath the gold plating, the translucent black keycaps and the commemorative nameplate is the ROG Azoth Extreme that has been on sale since 2024: a 75-percent wireless board with a machined aluminum chassis, a carbon-fiber positioning plate on an adjustable gasket mount, and a color OLED touchscreen with a three-way control knob in the top corner.
The hardware case for it rests on three things. The tri-mode connection (USB-C wired, 2.4 GHz SpeedNova, and Bluetooth 5 with three paired devices) runs at an 8,000 Hz report rate over both USB and the SpeedNova link with ASUS's Polling Rate Booster. Its gasket mount is adjustable, so the typing feel can be tuned between firm and soft without opening the case. And the battery is quoted in the thousands of hours, though that figure assumes the RGB and the screen are switched off.
This edition ships with ROG NX Snow V2 linear switches in a new transparent Edition 20 housing, under PBT keycaps with a semi-translucent pudding profile that lets the per-key lighting through. All keys are programmable in Armoury Crate, and the box adds a magnetic wrist rest, magnetic feet and a nameplate.
What the anniversary adds is cosmetic and priced accordingly: genuine 24K gold-plated trim, the gold-on-black colorway, and ASUS's own list price well above the standard Azoth Extreme.
It suits a collector or a ROG loyalist who wanted the Azoth Extreme anyway and will pay for the edition. It is not the rational way to buy this keyboard's performance, and it is a 1.5-kilogram desk fixture.

Editor’s note
My read of the Edition 20 is that it is two purchases in one, and buyers should be clear which they are making. The first is the ROG Azoth Extreme, which is an excellent wireless compact board: adjustable gasket, carbon-fiber plate, top-rate polling over wireless, a battery that outlasts almost anything else on a desk. The second is the anniversary treatment: real gold plating, the colorway, the nameplate, the collectible box. That second part is what the extra money buys, and it does nothing for typing or gaming.
For the keyboard alone, the standard Azoth Extreme gives you the same chassis, plate, gasket, screen and wireless stack for considerably less. If you want the object, this is the only place to get it, and ASUS will not make it again.
The engineering I would point to is the adjustable gasket. Most gasket boards commit to one feel at the factory. Being able to firm it up for gaming and soften it for typing is unusual and useful. The screen-and-knob corner is more useful than it sounds too, since it handles volume, lighting and profiles without software open.
The part that would make me hesitate is the battery claim. Sixteen hundred hours is real only with the lights and the screen off, and on a keyboard bought for its lighting and its screen that is not how it will be used. Expect a fraction of that in practice, and ASUS does not publish the with-lighting figure.
ASUS also lists no hot-swap detail, no actuation force and no latency numbers on the spec page for this edition, and the standard Azoth Extreme's documentation is fuller.
I would buy it as a collector who already knows and likes the Azoth Extreme. I would send everyone else to the standard version, and anyone who wants a portable board to something a third of the weight.
