Editor’s note
The original G915 is now the cheaper way into Logitech's low-profile wireless line, and most of what made it good is unchanged. It is the same 22-millimetre-thin aircraft-grade aluminium slab, with the same GL switches in linear, tactile or clicky, the same volume roller and the same five dedicated macro keys down the left edge.
Two things separate it from the newer G915 X. The keycaps here are laser-etched ABS rather than double-shot PBT, so they will develop a shine on the most-used keys over a couple of years and the legends can wear. And battery life is quoted at 30 hours with the lighting on, against several hundred on the newer board with lighting off — this is a keyboard you will be charging weekly.
Everything else holds up. Connection is LIGHTSPEED 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth or wired, N-key rollover is supported, and three onboard profile keys let your settings travel without G HUB. At 475 by 150 millimetres and 1,025 grams it is a full-size board that stays where you put it.
The low-profile design remains the thing to try before buying. The 1.5-millimetre actuation and short total travel feel fast and precise to some people and vague to others, and no amount of specification reading substitutes for pressing the keys.
There is no hot-swap here either, so the switch you choose at the checkout is the switch you keep. Given how few low-profile alternatives exist even for boards that do allow swapping, that matters less than it would on a standard-height keyboard.
Buy this if you want the G915 experience and can find it discounted against the X. Pay the difference for the newer model if keycap durability or long battery life between charges matters to you — those are the two places where the extra money actually goes.
