Logitech MX Master 3S: Specs, Price, Pros & Cons

The productivity mouse other productivity mice are measured against, and two of its features have no equivalent in gaming hardware. The first is a sensor that tracks on glass — an actual glass desk — where an ordinary optical sensor sees nothing at all.

The second is the wheel, which switches between ratcheted and free-spinning as you scroll. Neither shows up well in a table full of DPI and polling figures, which is worth remembering as you read the comparison underneath.

Editor’s note

The MX Master 3S is the productivity mouse other productivity mice are measured against, and two of its features have no equivalent in gaming hardware.

The first is the Darkfield sensor. It tracks on glass — an actual glass desk or table — where an ordinary optical sensor sees nothing and a laser struggles. If your desk is glass, this is close to the only mouse that works properly on it without a mat.

The second is the scroll wheel, which uses a weighted flywheel and shifts automatically between ratcheted and free-spinning depending on how hard you flick it. A thousand-row spreadsheet passes in one motion; a gentle turn still clicks line by line. There is a second thumb wheel for horizontal scrolling.

Battery life is a quoted 1,680 hours — about seventy days — with quick charging over USB-C, and it pairs with multiple machines. The switches are the quiet type, rated to 10 million clicks, which is low by gaming standards and ample for the click volume office work produces.

At 141 g it is the heaviest mouse here, and the 8,000 DPI sensor with no published polling rate makes clear this is not for aiming.

Buy it if you work all day, especially across long documents, spreadsheets or a glass desk. Buy a gaming mouse for games — the weight and the quiet switches are wrong for that, deliberately.

The bottom line

The Logitech MX Master 3S earns a VS Score of 44, trailing most of the 79 mice we compare here, at least on the spec sheet. It stands out for longer battery life, free-spin scroll wheel and quick charge. Just be aware of a much lower max sensitivity and a much heavier build before you buy. Weigh those trade-offs against what matters most to you.

The VS Score is calculated from the weighted specifications above, compared with every other mouse we track — a shortlisting guide, not a substitute for your own priorities. See how we score.
