Shark AI Ultra Robot AV2501S: Specs, Features, Pros & Cons

Shark's AI Ultra AV2501S only vacuums, in a category where most robots also mop. Shark places it in the middle of its range, and that choice shapes the whole machine. There is no water tank to fill and no pad to wash, and the dock has a single job, emptying the robot after each run.

The robot around it is a modern one. LiDAR draws the map, obstacle avoidance steers round clutter, and the app splits the floor into rooms that can be cleaned one at a time or fenced off with no-go zones. Carpet detection tells it when the floor changes. Scheduling runs through the app, and the robot answers to voice assistants, which puts the whole routine out of sight.

The filter is the unusual part. It meets the HEPA standard and can also be rinsed under a tap, so it does not turn into a recurring purchase. The brushes are built against hair tangling as well, which suits a home with long hair or a moulting pet.

Two blanks remain in Shark's specification. Shark gives no suction figure for this model, so it cannot be ranked against rivals that print one. And the body stands near the tall end of the category, which leaves the floor under a low sofa to someone else.

The AV2501S is the robot for a home that has never wanted a wet mop, where dust and allergens are the target and the sofa stands on proper legs. The eufy E20 is the model to set beside it if a printed suction figure would settle the choice.

Where the Shark AI Ultra Robot AV2501S beats the median

How this VS Score was computed

Score 46: each known spec is measured against the median of all robot vacuums (58 products), then weighted; 50 means level with that median. In classes of six or more, a value beyond the class’s 10th–90th percentile range counts as that limit, so one extreme product cannot set the scale. 12% of the scoreable weight could be used; unknown values, features not applicable to this class and proxies (battery capacity where a rated life exists) add or remove nothing.

Editor’s note

The AI Ultra is Shark's mid-range machine and the most notable thing on its specification is the filtration.

It has a HEPA filter that is also washable, a combination rarer than it should be. Most machines here have one or the other: a HEPA filter you replace as a consumable, or a washable filter that does not meet the HEPA standard. Having both means the filtration is fine and the running cost is close to nothing, which matters in a house with allergies or pets.

The rest is a solid modern specification: LiDAR navigation with obstacle avoidance, full mapping, room-by-room cleaning and no-go zones, a self-emptying dock, anti-tangle brushes and 120 minutes of runtime.

Two limits. It is 105 mm tall, which is at the upper end here and will be stopped by furniture that the 80 to 85 mm machines clear. Measure before ordering. And Shark publishes no suction figure for this model, so there is no way to place it against the 4,000 to 22,000 Pa range quoted by its rivals. Treat that as unknown and assume nothing either way.

It does not mop.

Buy it if filtration and running costs matter to you and your furniture has clearance. Buy a lower machine if it does not, or one that publishes its suction if you want to compare that number directly.

The bottom line

The Shark AI Ultra Robot AV2501S earns a VS Score of 46 on the 12% of specifications we could compare like for like — an indication, not a ranking.

Who it’s for
Allergy sufferers and pet owners who want HEPA filtration without buying replacement filters, in a home whose furniture sits high.
Who should look elsewhere
Pass if you want mopping, or a published suction figure to set against rivals.
The trade-off that matters
Its height. The body stands at the upper end of the category, so the space under low sofas and beds, where dust collects, is where it cannot go.
The main alternative
eufy E20: HEPA filtration and a self-emptying dock too, with a published suction figure
