The G PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE has no mechanical click, and that is the most genuinely novel thing in this category.

Its Haptic Inductive Trigger System senses how hard you press and produces the click sensation electronically rather than through a physical switch. Two things follow. There is nothing to wear out — no metal contacts to degrade into the double-click fault that eventually kills mechanical mice — and the actuation force and feel can be adjusted in software, which no mechanical switch allows. You can also set two actuation points on one trigger, in the way a Hall-effect keyboard does.

Whether it feels right is a question you should answer in person. A simulated click is not identical to a physical one, and a small number of people find the difference distracting.

The rest is Logitech's competitive platform: a HERO 2 sensor at 44,000 DPI with 888 IPS tracking, 8,000 Hz polling wired and wireless, 60.8 g in a 125 mm ambidextrous shell, PTFE feet, onboard memory and a quoted 90 hours of battery.

Five buttons, no RGB, no horizontal scrolling — the usual competitive austerity.

Buy it if the idea of adjustable, wear-free triggers appeals and you can try one before committing. Buy the SUPERLIGHT 2 if you want the same sensor and shape with a conventional click and 1.4 g less weight — it is the safer choice and costs less.
