Editor’s note
Razer sells the Joro as a gaming keyboard, and that framing does it a disservice. What it actually is, a 374 g slab 16.5 mm thick with an aluminium top case and low-profile scissor switches, is a very good travel and commuting keyboard that happens to carry Chroma lighting.
The typing feel sits closest to a good laptop keyboard: short, quiet and stable, with none of the depth a mechanical board gives you. That is the point. It slides into the sleeve of a laptop bag, pairs with three devices over Bluetooth 5.0, and carries both Windows and Mac legends on the keycaps, so moving between a work laptop, a tablet and a handheld is a single keypress.
Two limitations matter before you buy. There is no 2.4 GHz dongle in the box and the keyboard does not currently work with one, so playing wirelessly means accepting Bluetooth latency; serious gaming needs the USB-C cable, which rather defeats the portability. And the headline 1,800-hour battery figure assumes the lighting is switched off. Turn the RGB on and Razer's own figure falls to roughly ten hours, so most owners will treat the backlight as an occasional luxury rather than a default state.
The single-zone lighting is a further compromise. The whole board changes colour together, so per-key effects and reactive typing patterns are simply not available.
None of this spoils it. As a keyboard you throw in a bag for a week away, or leave on a shelf for a tablet, it is genuinely pleasant to use, and the aluminium frame does not flex under a firm hand.
Buy it if you type in more than one place and value thinness and weight above key travel. Avoid it if this is meant to be your only keyboard for desktop gaming, where a wired or HyperSpeed board will serve you far better for the money.
