Logitech G515 RAPID TKL: Specs, Price, Pros & Cons

Among Logitech's magnetic tenkeyless boards, this is the slim one. The PRO X TKL RAPID is the standard-height model, and the G515 RAPID TKL keeps the same idea on low-profile keys for players who find a tall keyboard hard on the wrists.

The switches are Hall effect, so each key reports how far it has gone down. That supports an actuation point that can be moved, a rapid trigger that resets the key on the way back up, and analog input. In a shooter, that quicker reset lets a strafe key stop and reverse sooner. Travel is shorter than on a full-height switch, which gives the adjustment less distance to work with and the fingers less distance to move.

Under the low caps is a sturdier build than the height suggests. A stainless steel top plate sits over several layers of damping, and the keycaps are double-shot PBT. Settings live in onboard profiles, so actuation depths set in G HUB follow the keyboard to a second computer. Media controls and per-key RGB complete the list.

The switches are soldered in and cannot be swapped, so the slim magnetic feel is permanent, and anyone unsure about short travel should try one in a shop first. The only connection is a USB cable, and polling runs at the ordinary rate, below the fastest gaming boards.

The buyer is a competitive player who wants per-key actuation and quick resets but types and plays on flat keys by preference. Someone who mostly writes gets little from the magnetic switches.

How this VS Score was computed

Score 61: each known spec is measured against the median of all keyboards (101 products), then weighted; 50 means level with that median. In classes of six or more, a value beyond the class’s 10th–90th percentile range counts as that limit, so one extreme product cannot set the scale. 51% of the scoreable weight could be used; unknown values, features not applicable to this class and proxies (battery capacity where a rated life exists) add or remove nothing.

Editor’s note

The G515 RAPID TKL is unusual in a way that matters: almost every magnetic-switch keyboard is standard height, and this one is low profile. At 22 millimeters tall it sits about as high as a laptop keyboard, which for people who dislike the wrist angle of a chunky mechanical board is the whole reason to look at it.

The magnetic switches do what the category promises. Actuation adjusts anywhere from 0.1 millimeters to the full 2.5 millimeters of travel available, and Rapid Trigger resets a key the moment it starts moving back up rather than waiting for a fixed point. For counter-strafing in a shooter, that is a real mechanical advantage over a conventional switch.

It also means you can go too far. Setting actuation to its shallowest makes typing an exercise in accidental keypresses, and G HUB lets you set it per key for a reason. Shallow on the movement keys, normal everywhere else, is the setup to aim for.

Build quality is better than the slim profile suggests. There is a stainless steel top plate, several layers of damping, and double-shot PBT keycaps where most boards this height use ABS. Settings store in onboard memory, so your actuation profile survives a move to a machine without Logitech's software.

Two limitations to weigh. It is wired only, and polling tops out at 1,000 Hz, while Logitech's newer PRO X2 RAPID and the Wooting 80HE reach 8,000 Hz. And the switches are not swappable, so the low-profile magnetic feel is what you keep.

Buy it if you want magnetic-switch gaming features without the wrist angle of a tall mechanical board, and you play at a level where reset distance changes outcomes. Anyone who mostly types, or who wants wireless, is better served by a conventional keyboard for considerably less money.

The bottom line

The Logitech G515 RAPID TKL earns a VS Score of 61, above the median of the 101 keyboards it is measured against (a score of 50 is level with that median).

Who it’s for
A competitive player who wants rapid trigger and per-key actuation but hates the wrist angle of a tall board.
Who should look elsewhere
Typists and anyone who wants wireless will find a conventional board cheaper and better suited. It also locks you into its switches.
The trade-off that matters
Polling stays at the ordinary rate while rivals go much faster, so it gives up the last fraction of response for the slim profile.
The main alternative
Logitech G PRO X TKL RAPID: Logitech's standard-height magnetic TKL, for players who want full-height keys and the deeper actuation range that comes with them.
