Editor’s note
The XG27ACS is the sensible one, and that is a compliment. It does not chase a headline number; it gets the fundamentals right at a price that leaves money for a better graphics card.
The panel is a 27-inch Fast IPS running 1440p at 180 Hz with a 1 ms response and 97% DCI-P3 coverage. That colour figure is the quietly impressive part — it is close to what much more expensive monitors manage, and it makes photo editing and general desktop work look better than the price suggests.
Be realistic about HDR. It carries DisplayHDR 400, the entry rung, with no local dimming and 1,000:1 contrast. You get a slightly brighter image and wider colour than SDR, not the deep blacks and specular highlights the term implies. The panel is also 8-bit rather than 10-bit, which matters far more on a spec sheet than it does in use.
Connectivity is where the savings show. There is one DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI, and that HDMI is version 2.0 — so a console gets the lesser input and there is no second port for a second machine. There is a USB-C input, but its power delivery is 7.5 W, which will trickle-charge a phone and nothing more. Do not read USB-C as laptop docking here. There are no speakers and no USB hub either.
The stand is fully adjustable with 120 mm of height travel, it takes a standard 100 mm mount, and there is a quarter-inch tripod socket.
Buy it if you want a fast, accurate 1440p panel and would rather spend the difference on your PC. Skip it if you need multiple inputs or real HDR.
